Some things in life are bigger and more important than skipping (yes we did just say that). One of those things is charity and, specifically, supporting children’s charities. At Dan the Skipping Man® we are proud to support the work of a group called Be More Marley. They fund raise for charities that support Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
Be More Marley Hockey Day
Be More Marley run a number of fund raisers each year to reach their fundraising targets. But the main event is the Be More Marley Hockey Day which, in 2022, was in its second year.
This year it was held on 6th August at Oxford Hawks Hockey Club. With the addition of a Pizza truck, coffee shop and much more, the event was bigger and better than its inaugural year. Along with Cox Electrical, we were thrilled to offer sponsorship. The teams were decked out in stunning new playing shirts. So, the look and feel of the day was nothing short of exceptional.
Marley Oakes
The day is in memory Marley Oakes, who at 10 months old, sadly died of SIDS in 2019. With the focus on creating a legacy for this bubbly, smiley, friendly little chap and encouraging everyone involved with the events to #BeMoreMarley.
Amongst the wonderful hockey matches, BBQ, cakes, commemorative sock sales, hockey equipment stall and Auction of Great Britain Olympic Hockey kit, Dan (our founder) also ran a skipping session to get the children supporting the event (even more) active. The session celebrated the abilities of all comers with a cross section of ages having a wonderful time and enjoying long rope games in the sunshine.
It was an amazing day, it’s an amazing project and one we love supporting. And we will do so for many years to come.
